After almost 12 years of irregular training for cadets at Bomana Police College, today, a K4.8million Detective Training School was opened.
All due to the Australia-Papua New Guinea Police Partnership, which saw the opening of accommodation facilities and training centre at the Police College.
The facilities will be fully utilised in 2017.
Detective Training at the Bomana Police College has not been very active because of rundown and condemned buildings.
With these new facilities, the Royal PNG Constabulary will review the prosecution and detective trainings.
Courses will range from investigations to prosecuting and will also see the development of detectives in Papua New Guinea.
Police Commissioner, Gari Baki, referred to news reports of cases being struck out from the Court because of lack of evidence and police files presented, and assured that there will be improvement soon.
Commissioner Baki and the Australian Federal Police Assistant Commissioner, Scott Lee, witnessed the opening of the facilities.
