Samantha Kassman lost her fight against a top-ranked opponent, Bianca Walkden of Great Britain, who had considerably more experience, having won the 2015 World Championships.
A chance for Samantha to fight again later in the day through the repechage did not eventuate as her opponent Bianca Walkden lost in the semi-finals to Chinese fighter Shuyin ZHENG, who ended up winning the Gold in the over-67kg division.
Samantha was the last of the Team PNG athletes to compete at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
