PM :O’Neill Remembers Holocaust Victims

Prime Minister Peter O’Neill and his delegation met withthe Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanhayu and selected Ministersof his Cabinet on Tuesday at a working luncheon in his office in Jerusalem.

 

Prior tothe meeting, Mr O’Neill and his Israeli counterpart signed a Joint Declaration of Cooperation that serves asthe umbrella agreement to manage all aspects of existing relations.

There wasthe warm cordial shaking of hands between Peter O’Neill and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

 

The visit is a historical one, one that Natanyahu is keen on reciprocating later inthe near future.

 

Mr Netanyahu acknowledgedthe cultural areas of tangible cooperation betweenthe two countries.

 

He made specific reference tothe people to people connection through Christianity andthe pilgrimages ofthe HolyLand.

 

Foreign Affairs Minister Rimbink Pato also signedthe agreement on visa exemption for Holders of Diplomatic Services, Official and Ordinary Passports.

 

Beth Prime Ministersagreed for the Departments of Foreign Affairs to immediately commence discussions to establishthe diplomatic presence in Tel Aviv,the economic capital of Israel.

 

Also duringthe day O’Neill had a tour of Yad Vashem,the Memorial ofthe Holocaust. He reflected onthe holocaust era, a dark period for the Jews. It was a moving and emotional moment.

 

The Prime Minister extended Papua New Guinearsquo;s condolences tothe six million Jewish men, women and children who losttheir lives duringthe holocaust.

 

Afterwardsthe Prime Minister, his Ministersand ther MP’sproceeded tothe Grover of Nationsand planted an Olive Tree.

 

It’symbolizes Peace, Humanity and Goodness.
