Planning to review Government Implementation Process

The Department of Planning and Monitoring has moverd to reviewthe process of government implementation to ensure plans are delivered.

The reviewed plan hopes to set benchmarks in sustainable development.

The Minister responsible Charles Abel said this duringthe opening ofthe Consultative Implementation & Monitoring Council National Forum in Port Moresby on Wednesday.

Minister Abel told stakeholders thatthe plan or activity matrix followsthe logical progression of Planning, Finance, ImplementoMonitoring and Reporting.

Besically it’s an operational tool to boostthe implementation oversight ofthe cabinet.

Minister Able toldthe forum thatthe Monitoring and Evaluation Framework for Government will provide an annual scorecard against SDP targets.

The activity matrix will be used as a reference point for reporting onthe progress of thirteen government activities.

They include Revision of Planning and Establishing a Monitoring and Evaluation Framework; Funding of Plans andthe Revision ofthe Budget Process; and a wide range of reforms coveringthe public sector, SME’s, and SOE’s.

Minister Abel said he is committed to this process to ensure that accountability and implementation is achieved.
