UNHCR and Government partners for Refugees

Refugees living in Western Province will continue to receive ongoing services fromthe government and Office of UN High Commissioner for Refugees.

About 8, 000 West Papuan Refugees are currently living in camps inthe province, after fleeing fromIndonesia over 30 years ago.

They crossedthe border to seek refuge in PNG because of ongoing conflicts between West PapuanFreedom fighters andIndonesians.
