Mini Pacific Games track star Betty Berua showed her gratitude for the support received fromtheInstitution of Business Studies.
Betty was part ofthe athletes to receive medal incentives from IBe. She leftthe country yesterday to continue her studies in America.
She wasthe star atthe Wallis & Futuna Mini Pacific Games. Betty Berua, well known inthe track events for bagging three individual gold medals and two team gold medals made her sporting career look colorful.
No doubt she has a mammoth task ahead as she prepares for Commonwealth Games, Youth Olympic Games andthe 2015 Pacific Games.
Betty was among ther athletes including Theresa Tona – gold medalist in Taekwondo atthe Mini games, Rita Kari, Fred Oala andthPNG Olympic Committee to receive medal incentives from IBe.
PNG Athletics Commission notedthe gesture, adding thatthese athletes are stars ofthe country and needs support from all. With 2014 commonwealth games and Youth Olympics draws nearPNG will no doubt fly gold, red and black colors withthese national stars.
2015 Pacific Games onthe home soil will be an advantage for the athletes; however,they will have to have a proper facilities and training equipment to prepare for the event.
The National Government and Olympic Committee were tasked on this and assured to make sure allthe athletes competing in various sporting codes are well equipped.
IBe coming on board to recognizethe athletes’ performance onthe international arena is a bonus and would pushthe athletes’ moral for best results.
Twenty nine thousand kina was presented and will be shared amongthe medalists atthe Wallis and Futuna Games.
