UNITECH Saga Update

Suspended UNITECH VC, Dr Albert Schram was never deported, says Minister for Higher Education, Science and Technology David Arore.

He told parliament during question time thatthe VC while on suspension went overseas but was never permitted to return because he didn’trsquo;t have a valid work permit.

The one he was using was cancelled when he was terminated bythe former University Council led by Philip Stagg.

The interim administration ofthe Lae University of Technology, has refrained from commenting onthe recent deportation of suspended Vice Chancellor, Albert Schram, saying it doesn’t want to speculate onthe matter.

Meanwhile, Dr. Schram has responded to questions via email.

He saidthe government had not given any reasons for his deportation and that he will be speaking with his embassy to liaise withthe national government.

Dr. Schram was suspended for two months along with council members following a visit to UNITECH by Prime Minister, Peter O’Neill late last year

He is expected to remain suspended while an investigation is carrlied out over various separate allegations leveled against Dr. Schram and council members.
