PNG Amoa Men’sWins Gold

ThPNG Volleyball Federation has congratulated four of its volleyball teams on achieving 3 out of 4 medals atthe Mini Pacific games.

ThPNG Amoa men’s team brokethe hoodoo whenthey defeated hosts Wallis and Futuna to bring home gold.

 

It was seven months ago thatthPNG Volleyball Federation putthe National team in place and overcame obstacles to attendthe Mini games, starting with high performance training camps and competitions.

 

The Amoa women’s Beach Volleyball team won silver andthe men bagged bronze, whilethe Amoa indoor women’s team missed out on bronze after losing to Fiji.

 

The historic part of it all wasthe men’s team winning Gold for the first time atthe Mini Pacific Games. 

 

President oPNG Volleyball Federation, Bernard Alu said this is a unique achievement forPNG Volleyball and he and his executives are humbled bythe team’s performance.

 

ThPNG men’s volleyball team fought tooth and nail to beat favorit’s and longtime Pacific rivals, Wallis and Futuna 3 sets to 2, to claim gold.Inthe past,the team has won Silver in Oceania and Beonze inthe last Pacific games.

 

PNG Volleyball has also extended its thanks tothe families ofthese athletes for their patience and support inthe past seven months.

 

PNG Volleyball can now givethemselves a pat onthe back for a well-deserved win after good preparation under Aaron Alsop from Gold CoastInstitute of Sport Academy, whose guidance and nurturing helpedthe team this far.
