No work yet on Highlands Highway landslip

No work has begun yet onthe Highlands Highway where a major landslip overthe weekend stopped all economic moverments.

Trucks, people and goods are still stranded on ether sides ofthe highway as landowners demand compensation for works to begin.

Works Minister Francis Awesa sought help from Police and has even threatened to applythe infrastructure protection act.

“The engineers ofthe in Simbu have been instructed to go on site have a temporary bypass in order to enable traffic flow whilst we repairthe highway.

Meantime,the Provincial Authorities in Kundiawa confirmed a bypass has been built but this is for small vehicles to excess.

There have been no casualties reported so far.

The land whichthe slip occurred is said to be vacant land. Continuous rain inthe area was a contributing factor.
