Don Bosco Institute Revives Cultural Show

The Don Bosco Technological Institute held its 4th Cultural Show over the weekend after a 7-year absence.

The theme for the Cultural show, “Enriching Culture through Pastoral Charity”, brought together students, staff and family to not only showcase our traditional culture but to also raise funds for a good cause.

The main objective for the event was to uphold PNG’s diverse culture, as well as appreciating other international cultures in our community, along with raising funds for a school bus to assist students who travel from distant areas and those experiencing PMV issues.

The cultural show started off with a presentation and parade of contestants from different parts of the country in their traditional attire.

Traditional houses were also part of the event and were built by students showcasing provincial traditional art.

DBTI SRC President Brendon Kaita said the cultural show was a way for students to appreciate their culture as well as help themselves solve the main issue of students coming late for classes which is an important issue.

Kaita says the school is planning another cultural show next year and this time, they’re hoping for the event to be staged for two days.
