Law and Order to get funding increase in 2013

Law and order will also see a significant increase in budgetary funding next year.

In what’s being called the “Modernization of the Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary,” 2000 men and women will recruit over the next five years.

Under the long term budget strategy, 400 men and women will be trained every year.

They will be accommodated in new houses. The government is also going to spend more than four million kina for uniforms.

A small but vital part of law enforcement has also been given attention. Six-million-kina has been allocated for the renovation of police cells like this one in Kainantu.
