Sports Venues Facelift

2015 was a successful sporting year, for Papua New Guinea, hosting the XV Pacific Games.

However, local sporting competition in the nation’s capital, faced venues issues with the sporting facilities under construction for the games.

Some of the venues such as the Bisini Parade will continue to be unavailable, as they prepare to be upgraded for the FIFA Under 20 Women’s World Cup.

The venues from the 2015 pacific games will be upgraded to meet requirements set by FIFA guidelines to host the event

In preparation for the 2016 Under 20 Women’s World Cup, some of the sporting venues such as the Bisini Sports Ground will be under construction.

PNG now has some of the best sporting facilities in the South Pacific region, and the National Government is pushing for the country to be the sporting hub for the region.

With plans to build more facilities around the country, PNG can look forward to being able to bid to host major international sporting events.
