The US Embassy in Port Moresby and the Department for Community Development will co-host a PNG Women’s Forum to advance gender justice and opportunity in Papua New Guinea.
Taking place early next month, the two-day Forum will welcome women from all walks of life, as they discuss and create solutions to issues affecting women today.
With the theme ‘Wok Bung Wantaim lo Kirapim Senis’, the upcoming forum will take place on March the 6th and 7th and will be free for participants.
The forum is hoped to be attended by women serving in leadership roles within community and civil society groups, women empowerment advocates, female business owners, emerging young leaders, as well as men with strong interest in gender equality and women’s empowerment.
The United States Ambassador to Papua New Guinea, Walter North, discussed the purpose of the Forum.
At the significant event, women’s groups and leaders will work with government, international and private sector representatives, to articulate and advance a bold agenda to meet the needs of today’s women.
The forum will include discussion panels on many issues such as; ‘Enhancing Educational Opportunities for Women’, getting more Women into Business’, ‘Harnessing the Power of Technology to Empower Women’ and so forth.
The Forum is free for participants and will take place on the 6th and 7th of March.
