Star Mountains Scholarship

Two boys from the star mountains in Western Province have both been awarded the opportunity to study in Australia.

Through the OK Tedi Community Education Program, Cyril Bineng and Oscar Nori, both aged 13, will be taking up a six year-study program between OK Tedi Mining limited and The Scots College.

The Scholarship is funded by the Local Land Owner Villages that have recognized the advantage as well as the Mineral Resources Star Mountains, through their respective trustees.

It was an initiative of local land owners through a community trustees program to provide the support and scholarship for the two boys.

Present amongst community elders was the General Manager Employee and External Relations Officer for OTML, Musje Werror, who congratulated the boys as well as their parents and guardians on this opportunity.

The boys were accompanied by OTML Community Training and Development Officer James Yore, who is assisting the boys with their travel documents.

The boys will be based in Sydney, Australia where they will continue their education at Scots College for up to six years.
