The Lae police has issued a warrant of execution this afternoon to Lae’s city planner, Celestine Rameng, following an eviction order that was issued to him by Mirobs Hire Car, who claims to be the new owner of the state property.
The property, a three-bedroom house belongs to Lae City Authority, which was Lae City Council then. According to Mr. Rameng, the previous council sold the house to Mirobs Hire Car almost three years ago.
Mr. Rameng and his family were told by the police to vacate the premises by tomorrow. Rameng said they were told to sleep in Lae’s Council Chambers until they find a new place.
The property, located at Oleander Avenue in Eriku, was occupied by Lae’s city planner, Celestine Rameng, and his family since 2010 until this afternoon, when the police issued a warrant of execution to Rameng and his family to vacate the property by tomorrow morning.
The warrant follows an eviction order that was served to Mr. Rameng by Mirobs Hire Car Company on Monday this week.
The State property was under the care of Lae City Council. Its purpose was to accommodate the officers of the city council. According to the city planner, the real value of the property cost 2 to 3 million kina.
Almost three years ago, it was sold for about K1.5 million by Lae City Council to Mirobs Hire Car Company based in Lae.
According to Mr. Rameng, this is one of the many properties of Lae City Council that was sold to the public by the previous council.
Mr. Rameng said the buyer, Mirobs Hire Care, and the previous council headed by the former Lae City Manager, did not follow the right process involved in purchasing the property.
For now, Mr. Rameng and his family will be living in Lae’s Council Chamber in town until they find a new place.
