An agreement was signed today (02 November, 2018) to transfer Health Services from the National Department of Health, to National Capital District Services.

Health Minister Sir Puka Temu, and NCD Governor Powes Parkop signed the MOU to effect this.

Under the MOU signed today, NCDC will now be responsible for the management of health centres and clinics in Port Moresby.

Minister for health and HIV & AIDS Sir Puka Temu says the agreement will pave way for NCDC to restructure service delivery and administration to improve the health system in the community.

With Port Moresby the fastest growing city in the country in terms of infrastructure, Sir Puka Temu says he is confident that the governor will deliver world class health services to its people.

Parkop assured that NCDC through its Health Authority will deliver high standard of health services in the city.

Port Moresby General hospital will not be managed under the NCD health authority – instead it will be upgraded to a level 7 hospital , to be managed by the department of health.
