Marijuana Bag Confiscated at Boroko Market

By Jack Lapauve Jr – EMTV News, Port Moresby

A bag of marijuana was confiscated on Wednesday morning (August 8), at the Boroko market.

The bag was among other vegetable bags brought into the market, by an unknown vendor. It was intercepted at around 6 am by security guards at the main gate.

The market management has warned vendors outside Port Moresby, to be careful when transporting produce into the city.

The Market Management says it has been a trend, where vendors bring their produce with the illicit material among vegetable bags. With the limited workforce mending the market gates, the suspect fought with a lone guard and managed to escape arrests.

However, the bag was left behind. The public has been warned as this is the third time such as happened.

Meanwhile, Police will be working closely with the market management to apprehend those transporting illicit material into the City market.

The bag of marijuana was handed over to Boroko Police.
