Madang MP, Bryan Kramer has asked the Bau community to return the head of the teacher killed last Monday. The man was decapitated near the school. His body was brought to the Madang General Hospital.
Kramer has asked the community to facilitate the process and to ensure a proper burial was done by the teacher’s relatives. The killing of the teacher contributed to yesterday’s unrest which resulted in three deaths and serious injuries to a police officer.
Prior to the visit to Bau, Kramer went to the hospital where he visited the policeman and another man injured in the fighting. Police from the Lae Metropolitan command were deployed late last night. In the morning, the police cleared the roadblocks near the Gum bridge.
Shops in Madang remained closed today. The town’s water supply has also been cut off after the equipment was damaged yesterday. Lae police have been requested to remain for at least two weeks until the situation returns to normal.
