Francis Essy was a lecturer at the University of Papua New Guinea when he was also badly beaten up by police. He was left fighting for his life and made headlines calling for justice.
That was four year ago after Francis Essy came out from surgery to reconstruct his fractured skull. In October 2014 Francis and his nephews were at Manu service station in the National Capital District when 3 police officers attacked him. Today the former UPNG lecturer and father of five is unemployed due to injuries he received from the brutal police attack.
Francis explained that he had pursued the case in 2014 and was told that the officers were arrested and charged. But only recently he had found out that his case was not pursued and the police officer who gruesomely attacked him and his nephews were still in the force. This year He pursued the case with Internal Affair Unit at Badili.
What the IAU found out was that the files of his case had vanished and that no arrest or investigation was done. Essy said the IAU perused the case and finally just recently arrested and charge the officer who threw the first punch.
But Essy still wants to see them go to court and also the other two officers charged and removed of their jobs.

My little brother was also brutalized by police and was in one of the beds next to the lecturer. Same thing happened with the police file, it just vanished!
