Commitment and dedication to work will bring changes in the country, says Department of Provincial and Local Government Affairs Secretary Dickson Guina.
Guina said this while highlighting the Department’s responsibilities to staff during the department’s meeting Monday morning in Port Moresby.
He challenged staff to serve the office with loyalty and dedication in their work when implementing public services at all levels of government.
He maintained that in order for Papua New Guinea to change staff morale, commitment and attendance to work are very important.
Guina said every year K300 million from the Government budget is appropriated towards staff’s annual salary. Therefore, he said the department will adopt a check-in and check-out system to monitor staff work performances.
He also appealed to all staff to work in partnership with line agencies, private sectors and development partners for capacity building and to decentralise services from provinces right down to ward levels.
The department’s secretary also acknowledged the World Bank and DFAT’s assistance with US$28 million approximately over K70 million which will go towards funding Community Rehabilitation Projects in the country.
