A 68-year-old English man will appear for mention at Lae’s Court House tomorrow.
He was arrested and charged by the Police on Wednesday last week, for not paying his hotel bills of over K37,000.
Lae’s Acting Metropolitan Superintendent, Timothy Pomoso said the expatriate’s visa expired the following day after his arrest.
According to police reports, the expatriate came into the country on a tourist visa 65 days ago.
Inspector Pomoso said the expat and his friends from PNG were then engaged in a gold buying business.
On the 13th of August this year, he booked into a transit hotel outside of Lae and left last week Sunday without paying his bills.
The Hotel’s Human Resources and Security Manageress said, they laid a complaint against him because was unable to pay his bills.
Pomoso said the Police tracked down his vehicle and located him at another lodge while he was checking in last week Wednesday.
The expat was arrested that night and remains in Police custody at the Lae Police Station.
Lae’s Acting Metsup said the expat’s 60 days visa was expired on the 12th of October this year.
Pomoso has called on all government authorities in immigration, customs and police to work together to avoid such incidents.
