2.5km Open Water Swimming Under Perfect Port Moresby Weather

A perfect weather conditions combined with warm temperatures provided the scene for the start of the race at the pier on the Fairfax Harbour.

Participating in the event, were two female and seven male in the 2.5km swim in a triangular circuit.

Youngsters from Boroko Swimming Club, Moses Lorani and Ian Egora, led from the start but Lorani took the lead minutes into the race before distancing himself from the rest of the swimmers.

Ian Egora who was second in the race was followed by Davis Martin while female Alice Macphillamy saw her way through to the fourth place.

Moses Lorani finished the race in a time of 23 minutes and 38 seconds for the gold medal while Ian Egora took Silver, and Davis martin won Bronze medal.

Coordinator, Alice Macphillamy, who finished fourth in the race said she would like to see more participants in the future.

The next open water swim will be in April of next year.
