Enga Provincial Police Commander Chief Superintendent Fred Yakasa visited two warring factions at the Surinki government station in the Lagaip District to encourage them to continue living in peace.

Recently, Lagaip Open MP, Aimos Akem was on the ground to issue Preventive Orders to the Irale clan of the Sakalin Tribe and Kowan clan of the Kunalin Tribe after four deaths and approximately up to a million kina worth of properties were damaged and destroyed.

CSP Yakasa briefed the people on the importance of government services and urged them to uphold the rule of law in order to see progressive developments in the Surinki constituency area going forward.

This marks the top cop’s first visit to the newly created Laigaip District to witness the Kunalin and Sakalin tribes coming together in peace to speak to the police chief about their different views as both parties mediate for lasting peace.

CSP Yakasa encouraged both factions to always seek for forgiveness and make peace when a community dispute arises as prevention is better than cure.

He assured the national government, provincial government and the Lagaip District Development Authority, along with relevant business stakeholders of the Pogera gold mine that the main Highlands Highway is clear and regular business activities along the main highway will not be affected in one way or the other.

The Surinki government station hosts important national and provincial government projects and is situated along the Highlands Highway on the electoral borders of the Lagaip and Wabag districts respectively.
