Womenof Hope andthe Womenin Business continue to work hand in hand to help less fortunatPNG women embark on business ventures.

Overthe weekend, Womenin Business were given a piece of land outside of Port Moresby bythe Womenof Hope founder Veronica Charlie.

The land will be used to develop and bring in amenities that will help local women in Rigo District and surrounding districts in Central province inthe business sector.

An almost two hours’ drive out of Port Moresby onthe Magi highway is Ganimarupu village, inthe Rigo District of Central province.

With government assistance, a training centre is slowly taking shape to accommodate women and young girls, who are orphans or social outcasts.

Margaret Anton is a widow with three children. She lost her home after an eviction. After engaging with Womenof Hope, she now lives here in Ganimarupu, she has a home and has taken up farming to sustain her family.

Womenof Hope have a strong partnership withthe Womenin Business. Their mission to empower women with economic skills, ties in with WiBersquo;s mission to engage more locaPNG women to start up small to medium enterprises.

This promptedthe granting of a 10 hectare piece of land to Womenin Business.

The land belongs to Veronica and her family. She plans to expandthe centre in Ganimarupu by building dormitories to accommodate all those who are under her care. They have sufficient resources available to expand ontheir agriculture activities.

Withthe support of Womenin Business, Veronica hopes those who are underthe care of Womenof Hope can be able to begin a new and sustainable livelihood.
