Why no action taken on Commission of Enquiries: Juffa

Oro Governor, Garry Juffa, raised concerns that while much government’sanctioned inquiries were carrlied out; no action has been taken on most or all of those inquiries.

Attorney General Kerenga Kua attested to that fact and saidthere has not been any successful outcome in terms of prosecution or recovery fromthe recommendations.

He believes this is nothing to do withthe overall legislative frameworks in place rther it is to do withthe performance of persons and bodies implementingthese recommendations.

Mr Kua saidthe commission ofInquiry intothe Finance Department although tabled in parliamentowas injected with a court order.

He said he has been given clearance bythe Prime Minister to mover this proceeding ahead and he is working to getthese orders cleared.

He expects an outcome to be ready withinthe next week or two.

The ther two most recent inquiries includethe inquiry intothe Rabaul Ship Sinking and SABe.

While actions have been taken onthe Rabaul COI, a final report is yet to be tabled onthe inquiry into SABes.
