Usino Bundi Students Receive Higher Education Assistance

An allocation of 3.5 million kina has been budgeted to assist Usino Bundi students enrolled in higher education institutions around the country this year.

However, in assisting students, Usino Bundi MP Anthon Yagama has called on students to prioritize their learning and to see this assistance as a privilege, and not a handout.

Usino Bundi is one of the least developed electorates in the country.

However, education has been prioritized as a key development, necessary to pave the way forward for the people.

Usino Bundi MP Anthon Yagama said 74 institutions around the country will benefit from this scholarship.

He said public funds must be used where it is supposed to be used.

Recently students at the University of Papua New Guinea, Pacific Adventist University, Institute of Business Studies and Don Bosco College were delivered their school fee assistance.

Mr Yagama said so far that 25% of total school fees for students have been paid. Universities now need to confirm the lists of outstanding balances for the final payment, as the second batch of funding has been secured.

Meanwhile, road construction for the Begasin Road in the electorate has ceased, due to contractors working on the roads to Madang town.

Mr Yagama also thanked Marengo Mining for road works, both in equipment and funding, for the construction phase.
