UoG Interim Council Maintains Move To Terminate Administration

By Jack Lapauve Jr – EM TV News, Port Moresby

The University of Goroka Interim Council has backed their stand to terminate the previous university administration.

Interim Council Chairman, Dr Joseph Sukwianomb, says the officers have violated the Financial Management Act.

This includes Dr Gairo Unagi, Professor David Mel and Associate Professor Dr James Yoko.

All three officers were terminated on grounds of mismanagement.

“We have made a bold statement to terminate them”, Dr Sukwianomb said.

The Interim Chairman says the decision is strait forward and the interim council is taking this matter seriously.

Investigations to the alleged mismanagement are currently been withheld by the interim council.

“After all the reports are compiled, we will present a report to the police for alleged criminal matters”, said Interim Board Member George Minjihau.

Students have meanwhile sat for their examinations and the second semester will be completed.

Interim Chairman Dr Joseph Sukwianomb said the university is looking forward to its graduation and the 2016 intakes.
