By Fabian Hakalits – EMTV News, Port Moresby

United Sisters have secured the lead after defeating Stingers in the Port Moresby Women’s Softball competition over the weekend.

United Sisters won 11-4, in match four of the competition and top the ladder with 28 points.

Stingers took the batting box first, but registered only one run through Charlene Eremas.

Good pitching tactics from Natalie Bart, who formed a good combination with her catcher sent Stinger’s batters back to the dugout.

A good return at the bottom of first inning brought home four runs while Sisters maintained their lead through to the game’s completion.

In the other match it was a double header between Bears and Chebu.

Chebu opened the scoring registering four runs, through sluggers Melanie Maloni and Belia Tsiron.

But Bears returned from their fielding energised, and retaliated with by trashing Chebu by a final score of 18-15.
