In an effort to better manage forest resources in the country, the United Nations Forest Forum conducted a workshop on Project Design for Sustainable Forest Management for stakeholders in Port Moresby.
Dr. Ruth Turia, PNGFA Director for Policy and Planning says that the workshop was the first of its kind, and PNGFA officers received well needed training.
Benjamin Singer, the United Nation Forest Forum officer facilitating the workshop said that the workshop trained PNGFA officer write projects proposal that can be submitted to donor partners for funding.
Not only PNGFA officer attended the workshop, officers from Conservation an Environment protection authority and climate change development authority attended also.
At the end of the workshop participants received certificates.
Dr Ruth Turia added that all PNGFA officers were unable to attend due to high cost but those who did receive training will return to the regions and disseminate the training to other officers.
