Siddle, who complained of back soreness during the first Test in Bridgetown and was sent for scans, has not recovered sufficiently and is being sent home for further treatment.
Pattinson almost certainly would have kept him company on the plane home after suffering back spasms in the field on day three of the Test were it not for the fact that he may need to bat today if Australiau2019s burst for quick runs to set the West Indies a victory target in the second Test goes awry.
Australian team physiotherapist Kevin Sims said: u201cPeter Siddle developed some back soreness late in the first Test and scans conducted in Trinidad showed the early signs of a low back bone stress injury.
