Toua Gets Her First MRI Scan

by Shane Saroya – EMTV Sports, Port Moresby

Dika Toua turned up at the Pacific International Hospital accompanied by the PNG Weightlifting Patron, Sir John Dawanicura. She complained about her knee being swollen and in pain over the previous months.

She went through the Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scanner in the presence of her family and the media personnel. She has been lifting weights since she was 17 years of age, totalling now to over fifteen years. It is believed it is most likely her muscles, especially her knees, which will start to wear and tear.

After the scan, the doctor said it could be a minor injury, but in general she’s fine. Toua was positive her injury is a minor one, however the medical result will have to come from the experts.

It will go through the High Performance Training Center, where the physiotherapists and team doctors will assess her medical result, and with the assistance of the PIH doctors, they may recommend her rehabilitation.

Dika will be travelling to New Caledonia to continue her training with the other fellow weightlifters, alongside her coach, Paul Cofa.
