The first two vehicles for public servants in Telefomin District were air-lifted to the District over the weekend.
At the cost of K300, 000, both vehicles were purchased using DSIP funds. These vehicles are the first form of motor transport for the remote district.
In recent times, Telefomin District in West Sepik Province, has started to seen tangible development in a geographical challenged Electorate, under the leadership of local MP, Solan Mirisim.
The local MP was on site at the ATS tarmac in Port Moresby to ensure the vehicles were airlifted to his District.
With the support from the Australian Defence Force, the vehicles were securely loaded and on board the C130 Aircraft bound for Telefomin.
The exercise is part of the Australian Defence Force Squadron training exercise on landing and take-off tactics on remote airstrips in the country.
As these are the first two vehicles for the district, Mr Mirisim appealed to the Australian government to revive the Civic Program where more vehicles, medical supplies, and other basic items can be transported to his district, one that is only accessible by air.
