Police in Port Moresby have captured a suspect who has been on the run for a week.
The man, from a mixed parentage of East Sepik and East New Britain, was apprehended at Hibiscus Street in Hohola around noon today.
Following a tip off from the public, the Police Dog Unit, including the Mobile Squad, rushed to Hohola and surrounded the premises of the Doctors Without Borders building adjacent to Lizard Lounge.
Police officers then entered the premises and blocked off all exit points.
The suspect was caught hiding inside the premises and taken to the Boroko Police Station for questioning. He was beaten outside the station and later taken inside.
Police withheld details of the suspect, but it is understood he was in possession of a firearm. It is believed the suspect was involved in a robbery prior to his capture.
He is now at the holding cell at Boroko.
