Sporting Codes in NCD Continue to Look for Alternative Venues

By Dion Kombeng – EM TV, Port Moresby

Sporting codes throughout the Nation’s Capital are facing the challenge of not being able to have regular competition.

All the venues and facilities which were used for the 2015 Pacific Games last month were “games ready”, but were not fully complete.

Post pacific games and the venues are now undergoing the final stages of construction, to be fully completed.

This has caused a strain on the regular sporting competitions in Port Moresby, who are struggling to secure venues to resume their various competitions.

The Bisini Sports ground, home to numerous sporting codes, is still going through final maintenance, and the competitions which previously used the venue, have to now look for other alternatives to host their games until the venue is completed and ready for use.

All the newly-built sporting venues and facilities for the Games are now under the care of the Papua New Guinea Sports Foundation, who will run and manage all the venues once they are completed.
