Eastern Highlands Province is one of the first provinces in Papua New Guinea to allocate ten per cent of funding from its budget to partner with church networks.
In its 2014 budget, an amount of K2.5 million has been budgeted to help churches carry out work on delivering education and health services throughout the province.
Governor Julie Soso says churches have played a significant role in the development of the province and due consideration must be given back to them to continue their role.
Governor Soso is insistent on providing basic services to all districts in the province with the massive support of churches. She will visit rural districts and talk to people on the ground to identify essential services to improve lives of the people.
Soso is confident of implementing and delivering her policies to the people of Eastern Highlands as 2014 unfolds. Preliminary scoping and other necessary information of the districts and LLG’s have been gathered.
