The people of Inivi and Kosena in the Eastern Highlands Province have received much needed development thanks to the Sophia Totona Foundation.
The Foundation was established by businessman, Berldon Timah from Tirokave village in the Kainantu District. Sophia Foundation is named after his mother, whom he attributes his success to.
Mr Timah owns the T-Rocks Construction Limited which has road contracts in Wau-Bulolo, and parts of Eastern Highlands and Central Province. He commits 10% from all his construction projects to the Sophia Totona Foundation which is used to help the marginalized communities.
The Foundation, with support from Mr Timah’s company has provided help to assist disadvantaged communities with road projects and other basic services. The Foundation has also funded school infrastructure and supplies in the Eastern Highlands and Morobe Provinces.
As a good gesture, Mr Timah surprised remote communities of Inivi village in Okapa and Kosena Village in Kainantu last Christmas. Dressed up as Santa Claus, he hired a chopper and supplied goodies worth K40, 000 to these villages. He wanted the people to experience a great Christmas.
