Sogeri Police, stationed outside of Port Moresby, have called on the department and national government to meet their basic needs.
They state that their accommodation, firepower and logistics are priorities they have been faced with.
The Sogeri Police station is one of the oldest government assets established in the country.
Its jurisdiction covers the entire Sogeri area, including the 15 mile substation, and further extends to the fridges of Northern Province.
Over the years, Sogeri Police have been instrumental in promoting peace and maintaining law and order in the communities.
The station has eight police personnel, including 11 from its 15 mile substation.
The state of houses in the barracks is run down, and limited housing has forced some police personnel to live outside of barracks.
Firepower and logistics shortages have greatly affected their operations.
To date, they are using only one vehicle, donated by the Pacific Balance for Logistics.
Senior Inspector Baroro says its very stressful lacking these needs, in what they consider priority areas when executing police functions.
