The Tablebirds National Youth Soccer Championship begun on Tuesday in Lae and Goroka respectively.
A total of 14 teams are taking part.
The female division will play in Lae this week whilethe male division in Goroka.
Participating teams are from Port Moresby, Goroka, West New Beitain, Morobe and Madang Provinces.
The aim is to improverthe standard of soccer and identify talented players for international games.
