Sir Buri Kidu Heart to Heart Golf challenge on Friday saw 24 teams which registered for the charity Golf Challenge to raise funds for heart patients.
The Bank of Papua New Guinea who was the major sponsor for this event has been supporting the institute.
The Sir Buri Kidu Heart Institute was founded by Dame Carol Kidu in 1995 following the fatal heart attack of her late husband and Papua New’s Guinea first national chief Justice, Sir Buri Kidu in 1993. It has since been operating as a charity at the Port Moresby General Hospital.
This year marks the 10th year for the Bank of Papua New Guinea to actively support the institute as part of its community obligation, by subsidizing its golf fund raiser event.
The event was a success, and all this went to supporting the Heart Institute to help patients with heart failures.
Professor Isi Kevau said that the heart plays a major role in our body and it was a good way to get the heart active by joining in to be part of this charity golf heart to heart challenge.
“Over the years, fundraising activities like these, the participation by people who have very good hearts have helped us by echocardiography, ECG machines and stress test machines,” he added.
