Settlement Woman accused of committing Sorcery

A woman has been accused of committing Sorcery inthe Nation’s Capital.

Betty Raymond a mther of eight from Milne Bey was threatened that she would facethe same faith asthe Mt Hagen killing.

Betty Raymond lives atthe ATS settlementojust opposite Jacksons Airport. Her accuser is a woman from Popondetta. They all live inthe same community.

It all started with this, a tip of a coconut shoot and a leaf from a tree. Apparentlythe accuser had sought some type of protection because she carries a lot of money around with her. She fronted at Betty Raymonds place and this is what Betty gave her.

Day laterthe accuser also named Betty had a dream, she dreamt that Betty Raymond and anther man fromthe settlement had killed her. She believesthe dream was real.

When we went in search ofthe accuser to get her side ofthe story, she quickly went onthe defensive side; she didn’trsquo;t want to speak to us.

The residents that know Betty Raymond Say she is a good woman, she would never want to kill anyone intentionally.

A settlement court hearing was supposed to be held yesterday butthe accuser didn’trsquo;t have any evidence so it’s been deferred to this week Sunday.

Meanwhile, Secretary for the Department of Justice and Attorney General Dr. Lawrence Kalinoe has describedthe sorcery related killing of two women in South Bougainville last Thursday as very disturbing.

Last month, The Minister for Justice and Attorney General Kerenga Kua directed thatthe death Penalty must be introduced for people who see fit to brutally kill and mutilate ther people on a mere suspicion” of sorcery.”

So far, a total of three women have been killed in sorcery related murders.
