School Gets Assistance From BSP

by Stanley Ove Jr – EM TV News, Port Moresby

The Mendi Permitted Pre School received a timely renovation from BSP at a cost K24,000.

The school, established in 1975 by the Australian Army, has seen major uplifts of its classrooms, toilet facilities and its playground.

BSP Mendi branch manager, Billy Vevologa, said the renovation of the school is part of the bank’s nationwide project aimed at assisting and developing communities.

He said the community project is focused on education, health sports, environment and other community initiatives.

School head teacher, Olive Mukundu, said the assistance comes as a relief as the school has been operating on a small subsidy budget which was not sufficient throughout the 2015 academic year.

Meanwhile, BSP is also embarking on major development projects in Mendi, including the upgrade of sporting facilities at the Mendi nursing college and the introduction of tennis in the southern highlands province.
