Prince Andrew Presents First Medals

His Royal Highness the Duke of York has presented the first gold medals to Papua New Guinean female weightlifters Thelma Mea Toua and Ovia Bea, at the Sir John Guise Stadium in Port Moresby today. 

The Duke of York also presented triathlon medals to female Gold medallist Shallotte Robin from New Caledonia at the Sir Hubert Murray stadium earlier.

At the Sir John Guise stadium, His Royal Highness the Duke of York presented all three medals to the weightlifting medallists in the 48 kilogram division.

Beginning with Bronze, The Duke of York presented the medal to Seruwia Manani from Fiji, Silver to Mary Barter representing Australia and Thelma Mea Toua from Papua New Guinea with the Gold Medal.    

The Duke of York is on a five day visit to the country. He arrived on Thursday and officiated at the 2015 Pacific Games Opening ceremony at BSP stadium last night.

Prince Andrew also visited a number of iconic places in Port Moresby including the War Memorial Cemetery in Bomana and the Don Bosco Technical School at Taurama, where he unveiled a plaque commemorating the 200 years of the Don Bosco mission.        

The Duke of York also met and chatted with a number of youths and government officials during his visits.

At times, the Prince joked along with the public, and at other times emphasised on the qualities of life. 

The Prince has a number of places yet to visit before he departs Papua New Guinea on Monday, 6 July 2015.
