In the absence of the Minister for Public Service, the Prime Minister was asked about public servants getting extra allowances.
Chuave MP, Wera Mori, asked about certain officers from the Department of Mineral Policy & Geohazards Management who paid themselves allowances following the completion of the Wafi-Golpu State negotiations.
Mr O’Neill said the matter will be investigated and those found guilty of getting extra allowances will be dealt with by authorities.
Mr Mori asked the Prime Minister to clarify if the alleged hefty allowance paymen’s to officers from the Department of Mineral Policy & Geohazards Management were part of their contracts at the conclusion of the State negations on the Wafi-Golpu Project.
Mr O’Neill said although he was aware of the State negotiations, he was not aware of the extra allowances.
The Prime Minister assured the house that investigations would be conducted.
