The influx of people into major cities is becoming a norm nationwide.
Opposition leader, Don Polye, says these people must return to their home provinces, and cast their votes in the coming national elections.
“I urged those that are coming into cities like Port Moresby, Lae and Mt Hagen to return to their communities and vote their leader,” said Polye.
Polye called on the Electoral Commission to conduct a diligent electoral roll update prior to voting.
“A proper process must be done by Electoral Commission so candidates elected the right way,” Polye added.
Polye says, the Electoral Commission has a lot on their hands now, to make sure voters remain in their communities while casting votes.
Meanwhile, Electoral Commissioner, Patilias Gamato, says most provinces have completed their electoral update, while others have progressed in finalising their rolls.
“Common Roll updates have been completed in most provinces, most are now compiling data,” said Gamato.
In NCD all electoral roll updates have been completed for the 3 electorates, and are in the final stages of data processing before final compilation. The country has less than 6 months before voters cast their votes in their electorates.
