The two Gold medal wins for Papua New Guinea in the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth games has triggered an overwhelming need to give the athletes a hero’s welcome.
Steven Kari and Dika Toua both hail from Central Province’s Hanuabada Village and have won a Gold Medal each both in their respective weightlifting divisions.
An initiative special fundraising committee has been set up by fellow Hanuabada villagers.
Today a wheel barrow push through the Hanuabada Village kick started fundraising activities.

A total of one thousand and seventeen kina, fifty five toea was raised. Chairman of the fundraising committee Raymond Haoda is urging other prominent Motu-Koitabuans to get involved, ensuring the athletes get what they deserve: a hero’s welcome.
