by Lorraine Genia – EM TV, Port Moresby

Papua New Guinea has made it through to the bronze medal playoffs.

The Palais were superb with their backline, making breaks and scoring back to back tries, while the PNG Pukpuks played defensive rugby against World Cup champions, Fiji.

Papua New Guinea in the Rugby Union 7s has just made it into the Bronze Medal playoffs. The Pukpuks have just lost to Fiji. However, a wonderful fight was put up by the boys.

The Pukpuks managed to put their first try against the World Champions in the final minute and proved their improvement from their previous match against Fiji.

The Pukpuks will play against the winner of the match ‘Samoa against Tonga’ on Friday afternoon.

Meanwhile the Women’s team, the Palais, have also qualified for the Bronze medal playoff against New Caledonia. This is predicted to be another easy match for them.
