PNG Karate Do hosted its Nationals Open titles in the Nation’s Capital today.
Athletes from other centers around the country attended the one day tournament.
Forty athletes from this tournament will be selected for 2015 Pacific Games.
The National Open Titles was held at Port Moresby National High School. Athletes from around the country attended their 7th National open titles.
Centers from Oro, Goroka, Keivieng and Wewak were among some f the participants who attended the tournament.
Athletes competed in Queue levels wearing red and blue belts. Queue rankings where from 1 to 3 athletes on each side with a Marshall each assigned.
Competitions of each individual kata with its application, was hard and tough, but athletes did the best they could to impress the judges. Up to 3 katas each was performed by each athlete.
Also performing for the judges in the open division were junior athletes.
Also attending where judges from national and overseas based and international, to see the performances of the athletes so that the best potential athletes can be selected for next year’s 2015 Pacific Games.
Athletes showed of their karate do skills and katas by performing their own kata to be judged by the judges.
Medals were handed out at the end of each round ranging from Gold, Silver and two equal third in the bronze level.
