PNG High Performance Visit Vabukori to Carry out Talent Pathway Program

The Papua New Guinea High Performance Training Centre visited the village of Vabukori today, to carry out their talent pathway program.

This brought youth in the community to try out the activities provided by the high performance team. It was to test their fitness levels, as well as to identify possible future representatives of PNG.

The program saw in-class education sessions on advising the athletes on nutrition and hydration. The importance to have a positive mindset and attitude towards life in general was also stressed. They were taught that as sports people, self care physically and mentally are correlated to optimal performance.

Talent Pathway Officer, Connie Papua said, the program is targeted at identifying potential sports men and women, who can one day, represent PNG at regional and international events.

Lucy Kasa from PNG High Performance, targeting areas of positive attitudes for the athletes, said the involvement of these youth in the program, will one day pay off when they start representing PNG.

This program is aimed at targeting and reaching to youth across PNG in the future.
