Pacific Games Council Pleased with Construction work

by Lorraine Genia – EM TV Sports, Port Moresby

Pacific Games Council (PGC) President Vidhya Lakhan and Executive Director, Andrew Minogue, are pleased with the progress of construction on venues over the past three months.

Last year in November, President Lakhan was critical on the construction of venues and the work being done by all stakeholders.

He urged the national government, Sports Minister Justin Tkatchenko and the Games Organising Committee (GOC) to ensure that everything possible would be done to guarantee the successful delivery of the Games.

Over the past three months, Minister Tkatchenko has held numerous conferences on site at each of the venues, highlighting the progress and assuring construction on venues is on track.

In their first visit for 2015, the PGC have shown signs of confidence with the results and progress shown by both the GOC and government.

Lakhan said there have been positive changes since November.

While the PGC’s confidence levels continue to grow, a substantial amount of work remains to be done to finish the venues no later than the 31st of May.
