Julian O’Neill who is regarded as one ofthe all-time great NRL players has been appointed as coach for the Mendi Muruks.
This announcement rides onthe back ofthe recent news thatthe Mendi Muruks have re-enteredthe Digicel Cup following a 1.5 million kina rescue package.
O’Neill who has a week to put his team togther is focusing onthe long term future ofthe club.
He has commenced a nationwide recruitment program that will ensure he puts togther a team that will be dominant inthe future and is primarily locally bred.
The Muruks aim to build local talent and harnesstheir skills and strength.
Already O’Neill has appointed Noel Aria to work closely with him as team trainer and conditioning.
